When you do that you will get a reference #. Give the reference # to the bank rep that you are talking to. This will get them to help you because they don’t want to be reported to the FTC. We just had one of the craziest short sales that we have ever closed, and I wanted to share the story with you because you may find it useful in your business. We got a listing for a half million dollar house about two weeks before the scheduled foreclosure sale date. It was a nail biter, but we got an acceptable cash offer the day before the sale date! We submitted it and requested a one-week extension on the sale date, but despite out pleas the bank would not cooperate. The house went to sale with a bank initial bid about what our offer was. We felt that this was ridiculous because it was a cash offer that could close with a day notice, the offer and the BPO prices were about the same, and the property went to foreclosure sale for the same amount as the offer. The bank just didn’t want to do the work to stop the foreclosure. Just laziness! I was not willing to just let this one go. We had just received the information about the investigations that were being conducted about the bank’s foreclosure practices, and this seemed to be a perfect example.
